#Uncharted 2 remastered 1080p#
As with all the titles in The Nathan Drake Collection, this one is presented in 1080p at 60fps. While you probably won't be fooled into thinking this is a current-gen title, graphically speaking, there are a moments here and there that will make you think twice (especially in Nepal). In Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves fortune hunter Nathan Drake embarks on a journey that will push him to his physical, emotional and intellectual limits to discover the real truth behind the lost fleet of Marco Polo and the legendary Himalayan valley of Shambhala, more commonly known in the west as Shangri-La. Once again, Bluepoint does a tremendous job with the remaster. Because of this hardware-specific fine tuning, I was curious as to how the porting studio would handle making this title sing on the traditional PC-like architecture found in the PS4.

(Compare with The Last of Us, which features considerably grayer characters.)Īmong Thieves was a tremendous leap in graphics in its day, taking full advantage of the esoteric Cell Processor architecture found in the PS3. In the end, that's okay because of the nature of these adventure stories, but I dare say a complex antagonist who challenges the player's assumptions would be fantastic, too. Those motivations are fine in and of themselves, but when there's no other components to the villains' agendas, that makes them one-dimensional. That said, just as Roman's motivations in the first game are a bit thin (money), Lazarević's are in the sequel as well (power). Harry and Chloe each bring something unique to this title, and Lazarević is a far more intimidating enemy than the Roman-Navarro team-up from the first game. There are absolutely insane scenarios in this game that take the series to its highest highs, including the famous train sequence, as well as the falling building or the vehicle chase where Nathan Drake has to jump from truck to truck just to stay alive.Ĭharacter work is great here, too. Whereas Drake's Fortune relied heavily on the tick-tock format of platforming and combat, Among Thieves mixes this formula up with a lot more unpredictability, and also adds a few more quicktime events for some spice as well. The environmental variety alone makes this title that much better. You break into a museum, you traverse a jungle, and you run for your life in a war-torn city, and you even scale the Himalayas. Whereas the first title spent nearly all of its time in one location, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves bounces from Turkey to Borneo to the heart of Nepal. The 2009 sequel to the excellent Drake's Fortune is better than its predecessor in every way, and with it, Naughty Dog cemented itself as the premier developer for the PlayStation 3.
